Ever since I was a young girl, I've had a passion for reading.

However, it wasn't always easy for me; reading was a skill that I struggled with growing up.

Today, I'm not only proficient in reading, but it's become my passion.

There's nothing quite like finding books that light up a child's eyes, making my heart feel warm and tingly.

Connecting Through Stories

Recently, while reading Rebel Girls Champions—a book about female athletes with powerful stories—with my 4th grade student, I shared a personal anecdote about my ability to do the splits.

Initially, she didn't believe me, leading to a fun little exchange where I showed her pictures of me in progressive stages of a split.

When I finally showed her a picture of me fully in the split, her innocent apology, "I'm sorry I didn't believe you," was a sweet moment I treasure.

These interactions are precious. They allow us to connect beyond the traditional student-tutor relationship, bringing a personal touch that enriches the learning experience.

Beyond Books: Sharing Life's Passions

My students know that I’m more than their reading tutor. I’ve been a dancer all my life and currently teach a Jazzercise class in my little town of Hartland. Besides enjoying great books, you can find me dancing and having fun to music. Life, after all, is about enjoying what you do, and I instill this joy in my students by encouraging them to engage in activities they love.

With online reading tutoring, my students typically meet with me once a week. This setup allows me to identify their gaps and address them efficiently. I take great pride in getting to know each student, becoming a temporary yet impactful part of their lives, helping them overcome challenges and master reading.
